We did something Awazing! Members of our Manchester team joined 30,000 other runners to complete the Great Manchester Run last weekend, all whilst raising funds for our charity initiative "Do Something Awazing". The team completed either the 10k or half marathon race, with one brave team member even completing both races! 🤯 The team have been raising funds for our chosen UK charity Family Holiday Charity and it's not too late to sponsor them! Head to our Just Giving link to show your support 💚 https://www.justgiving.com/team/awazegmr
We’re doing something awazing! 💚 Last week saw the launch of our brand new charity initiative, “Do Something Awazing”. We’re committed to helping people who can’t usually have a holiday, to have one ☀ 🏖 We’ll be doing this by supporting two main charities: Family Holiday Charity (https://familyholidaycharity.org.uk) and Dansk Folkehjælp (https://www.folkehjaelp.dk), through fundraising, volunteering and other charity activities. Fundraising has already started, and members of our Manchester team will be joining over 25,000 other runners to complete this year’s AJ Bell Great Manchester Run, which takes place this Sunday. Last week we held our fourth annual Awaze Product And Tech festival 💚 As our teams have grown over the last four years, the day-long event has become a highlight in our Technology and Digital Product calendar. This year we hosted the event in Manchester, bringing together over 200 colleagues from across Europe to look back on what we've achieved over the last 12 months, whilst sharing plans for the year to come. This year's theme was AI (Awaze Innovation), generating lots of interesting discussion, collaboration and team building. Highlights from the day included celebrating our awazing colleagues as part of our annual awards ceremony 🏆 a live hack courtesy of our InfoSec team 💻 and an inspiring talk from world record holders "Wild Waves" 🥇 which we rounded off with a brilliant evening of socialising 🎯 It was particularly special to see our Awaze Women in Tech team take home the "Team of the Year" award for 2024, really cementing how important diversity and inclusion are, not just in Tech but across Awaze as a whole.
📢 Last week our European Supply Summit took place in Birmingham, and it was an event to remember! 🌍✨ Hosted by our Group Chief Commercial Officer Simon Altham, the summit brought together our incredible team for a day filled with knowledge-sharing and networking. 💼🤝 Our line-up of internal speakers captivated the audience with their insightful business updates, providing valuable insights into the strategies and initiatives driving our company forward. 💡📈 We were lucky enough to have Claire Lomas MBE join us who gave an emotional and empowering speech. She left everyone in awe, as she shared her incredible journey and successful achievements. 🙌🎤 To celebrate the accomplishments of our amazing team, the day concluded with a remarkable awards ceremony, where we recognised and honoured those who have gone above and beyond. 🏆🌟 Coming together as one team to celebrate success and plan for the future is crucial. The European Supply Summit provided us with a platform to not only acknowledge our achievements but also strategise and forge ahead with renewed energy and focus. Here’s to next year! 🙌
Happy International Women’s Day! This year’s theme is #InspireInclusion, a call to action to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes and create a more equitable world for all women, from all walks of life. We’re super passionate about this year’s theme, as one of our core values is “inclusion”. We value diversity as a source of strength and we’re committed to fostering an inclusive environment today and every day. To celebrate the day, our teams have been sharing which women inspire them and why, as well as what being a woman means to them. We’re also taking the opportunity to celebrate all that our Women in Tech community have achieved over the past year, including our new partnership with Tech She Can, internal and external networking events and the start of our work to encourage more girls to pursue careers in STEM.
We were delighted to be in attendance again at this year's Reframe Women In Tech Conference, an event we've enjoyed each year since opening our Manchester office back in 2020. This year's theme was #CourageForChange and it's been an extra special event for us this time, as one of our very own awazing women showed the courage to step outside of her comfort zone and speak at the 2024 event to share her experience. We're super proud of Jen Hartshorne, who has not only been instrumental in creating our internal Women in Tech community, but has also embraced the opportunity to speak externally (and what a phenomenal job she did!). We had a record number of Awaze team members attend this year, including colleagues from our office in Copenhagen, as well as some of our male allies who came along to show their support for women in business.
We're super proud of some of our awazing Revenue Management team members who have spent today at the HOSPA Learner Awards Ceremony where they have been awarded their certificates following their recent HOSPA training. We're incredibly proud to have such hard-working and dedicated team members, who share our passion for professional development. Development opportunities like these ensure that our team members are always growing their knowledge and staying up to date with industry trends. An extra special "Congratulations" go to two of our team members, who were recognised for getting the highest marks on the course and for being "Learner of the Year". Well done!
As the Manchester Digital Skills Festival continues, today is Digital Her day, a day dedicated to women working in the Technology sector, as well as allies and advocates who want to learn and support women to thrive. We chose today as the perfect day for our Awaze Women in Tech Community to host their first in-person event. We had a brilliant turnout as we held a series of lightning talks, encouraging our women to step out of their comfort zones in a positive and supportive environment, and had a number of thought provoking conversations. And what better way to round off such a brilliant event than by enjoying a networking lunch of pizza, fizz and cupcakes? 🍕🥂🧁
Today we were delighted to attend the Manchester Digital Talent Day, held in the stunning Bridgewater Hall as part of the Manchester Digital Festival which is running all week. We were there to talk to prospective candidates from universities across Manchester about opportunities here at Awaze, including the launch of our two new internship programmes. With around 2000 delegates in attendance, it's been a busy day of sharing information on digital and technical career paths within our business, as well as supporting junior candidates with tips on how to make their CVs stand out. Didn't manage to make it to today's event? Check out our entry level roles via our careers page.
Over the last two days, our UK Business Development teams come together for our annual Business Development Conference, this year hosted in Leicester. Our cottages.com and Hoseasons teams have had an incredibly productive two days, sharing key updates and strategic plans for 2024 and beyond. It's been an uplifting couple of days, with a special guest in the form of Mathias Brun, an inspirational coach, trainer and teacher who joined us to provide a unique session for our teams.
