Recently, colleagues within our resourcing team set up camp in our Head office kitchen all day with a laptop and some Glassdoor goodies to give away. Everyone in the Resourcing department took turns to cover the “stand”, talking to colleagues who came in to the kitchen, telling them what Glassdoor and Indeed review sites are and how important it is that we get more reviews from colleagues. We had approximately 60 reviews on Glassdoor at the time. But after receiving a lot of interest throughout the day we’ve seen another 9 new reviews come through. Reviews are moderated by Glassdoor, so can take a while to come through, so we hope to see this number rise. Thank you to all those who have already left us a review, but if you haven’t left us a review yet, we’d love to hear your feedback!

Adrian has now been employed in the care sector for most of his working life. “I was only looking at the job as short-term – but 26 years later I’m still here.” Discussing the misconceptions about career in care and how rewarding and satisfying his job is, Adrian said: “When you support somebody you really feel like you are achieving something in people’s lives.” Alongside Adrian, Kim Corsinie, Dimensions head of resourcing and volunteering, highlights that support work can be a well-paid job with career potential: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMDQW

In her letter, responding to the ‘We Care Wales’ campaign and the social care workforce shortage in Wales, Kim Corsinie, Dimensions Head of Recruitment, highlights the huge untapped potential for young people in social care, and how in order to encourage them into the career we need to change perceptions and educate about the value of a career in social care. Last week journalist Rosamund Urwin from The Times asked Dimensions CEO, Steve Scown, 'what will a 'no-deal Brexit mean for the social care workforce?' Speaking about our colleagues who would need to apply for a settled status, he said. "The take-up has been extremely low, less than 7% and we've committed to make it as easy as possible and to swallow the costs." Some of our EU colleagues, especially those who provide live-in care, travel between the UK and their EU homes. Steve added, "we value every single one of our colleagues, whatever their nationality and we will continue to support anyone who works for us to continue working for us after Brexit. We hope now that a immigration exemption rule for social care workers does get the green light". Read the full article here: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vM4lW
With headlines dominated by negative news surrounding social care work, Shannon, one of our support workers in Cardiff is on a mission to change national perceptions of social care: "I think there are very few jobs where you can really say you're directly supporting someone to live a fulfilling life. I think that's incredibly special" A lot of people don't realise that support work is a career with real development opportunities, it's not just a job with no progression. 88% of Dimensions' support workers have said that support work is more skilled than people realise, and I couldn't agree more. We all have a life, we just help people to live it. Having any kind of disability makes you no less of a person." Read the full article here > http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vMeM0
