On Sunday it was #WorldMentalHealthDay. Mental health and wellbeing is extremely important to us and we're working to remove the stigma attached to it in the workplace. To mark the date, on Thursday, we held an online wellbeing session with Soul Sanctuary - Corporate Wellness that covered techniques of how to manage stress and a practical meditation exercise! 💙
We’ve created over 100 jobs in Southampton as we open a new depot to increase operational capacity during the busy peak period! The 118,000 sqft warehouse will be able to handle up to 180K parcels per day, we continue to invest and manage the increased demand from online delivery over the last year. Read more below.

We're delighted to announce that we're creating more than 1,400 jobs including operations managers, engineers, health and safety officers and warehouse operatives at our new Barnsley hub, which will open next year. As part of our ESG commitment we'll also have a number vehicles running on renewable bio-methane, we'll be planting over 25,000 trees and plants as well as working closely with the local community.🌲 Find out more below:
As part of our commitment to create a more sustainable future we're taking on 168 fully electric vans! 🚚 The zero emission vans will support our Parcelshop service, which operates over 5,000 convenience stores and other locations nationwide. Hack to the future! We recently held a successful ‘Hackathon’ with our parcel people from across the business. Teams presented innovative ideas on everything from sustainability to delivery accuracy, with all ideas being explored further by our product and innovation teams. Our Head of Product, Innovation and Onboarding Lynsey Aston said: “Whoa, what a few days the teams had at Hermes’s amazing Tech and UX Hub in Leeds! The vibe was immense, the pitches perfect… And the best part was that we could do it all together, in person, in a super-safe way. It proved there’s nothing like collaborating and getting stuff done… while eating pizza! I’m so proud of everyone who took part.”
We've launched a new apprenticeship scheme designed to help address the national driver shortage, whilst developing existing employees. So far, 45 parcel people have signed up to the 12-month scheme which will see them gain a Cat C licence and become a qualified LGV driver through driving training, taking place at our own Driving Academy. We recently spoke to Nicola Pritchard, our Senior International Business Manager about her career experiences and what it has been like to be a parcel person over the past year. She said: “My role has developed quite a bit over the last year with Brexit, mainly because international ecommerce has changed so much.
