It's #CleanAirDay! ESG is at the heart of Evri and in a year that has seen us recruit our first Head of ESG Nancy Hobhouse we’ve also released our first-ever ESG report. The report covers our highlights, values, strategy and commitments alongside our carbon numbers. Our finance team recently took on the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge to raise money for our charity partner Emmaus UK. 39 members of the team managed to complete the task and raised nearly £5,300. We’re always looking for ways in which we can explore more sustainable ways of delivering parcels and we recently trialled electronically assisted cargo bikes with a courier in Driffield, East Yorkshire. The trial was a huge success and we found that this method of delivery reduced last-mile carbon emissions by 89%! Adrian Berry, our Innovation Product Owner said: “It is early days as this is one of the first trials into this kind of delivery option, but the results look extremely positive. There’s no perfect solution to going green. We’ve introduced HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) to our mix of electric and bio-CNG vehicles. HVO is could reduce emissions by 90% compared to diesel engines and can be used in standard diesel vehicles. Our trial of this type of fuel will look to validate these claims. Supply can be limited so it can’t be used across our fleet but we’re proud to add it to our alternative fuel mix and bolster our position of the lowest carbon per parcel of any dedicated parcel delivery company in the UK.
