Our Direct to Store distribution team got ahead of the New Year resolutions and promoted fitness across the team. They challenged colleagues to get involved in exercise in December, whether in a local gym class, walking, running, or cycling. They also took the opportunity to raise funds for Cancer Research UK as part of the 'Big Festive Exercise Challenge', raising in total a fantastic £3,156.
Colleagues from our site in Selby had the pleasure of supporting SYPCO Selby, a local charity that helps adults with learning disabilities and autism and also promotes mental health wellbeing. L&D Coordinator and community champion Martin Brooks, along with Laura Neal and Lily Hinchcliffe-Wood from our product development team, organised an event making truffles and decorating cupcakes. They also provided a buffet lunch and handed out selection boxes at the end of the event.
In November, Greencore donated the equivalent of 2,156 meals to London's most in-need charities, schools and foodbanks via our partnership with The Felix Project
Greencore Senior Business Account Manager Olivia Machin had the opportunity to participate in an 'Aspirations Afternoon' at Norbridge Academy in Worksop, where she spoke about life at Greencore, food manufacturing and distribution in general and her role specifically. In return, the students had a go at creating their own sandwich and packaging designs, coming up with some highly creative ideas.
Thank you to our colleagues at our Head Office in Dublin, who raised €500 this week in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland. The money was raised through a quiz and a gingerbread house-making competition, with the same team winning both competitions. Our Manton Wood HR team presented a cheque for £1,734 to Firefly Cancer Awareness and Support following their sponsored walk at the end of June. The money raised will go towards keeping Firefly’s fleet of vehicles on the road as they support cancer patients with transportation to hospital.
