Despite doing her finals in the middle of lockdown and applying for jobs in one of the toughest markets, Hannah managed to graduate and secure a job. She reflects on how tough it was at that time – but persevered to her credit in the end.
"I had always wanted to be a marine biologist – but I was rubbish at science. Then I became fascinated by the legal side of things… and somehow, I ended up as a Project Manager at L&G!" Despite turning her back on a career in law, Emily remains committed to equality in the justice system, and also supports a legal aid charity that works with 18-25 year old convicted criminals to help get them back on their feet.
"One of my highlights in my career as a Data Scientist was in 2016 when I presented at an industry-leading tech conference about a specific programming language. I found it quite nerve racking to present my work to such a large audience, but it was extremely rewarding, particularly as I was only 25, female and Asian, which was very different from the demographic of the audience!"
