This year’s National Apprenticeship Week theme is 'skills for life' and we’re big on ensuring that everyone at Moneysupermarket Group is equipped with the tools they need to plan for their future by developing skills that have longevity. Apprenticeships not only help individuals develop their skills in role and set them up for future success, they're also an invaluable tool for our more experienced colleagues to support their ongoing growth and development. We asked some apprentice alumni to share some of their experiences. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/national-apprenticeship-week-our-moneysupermarket-fsg2e?trackingId=IELr%2BJTZSm%2BLsxVrL06jHg%3D%3D&lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_company_admin%3BhL0e%2BeJGSkedKxFmlapL1Q%3D%3D
This week, MoneySuperMarket launches Money Talks – a campaign designed to break the taboo that stops people talking about money worries, in partnership with Campaign Against Living Miserably and UM London. Mental health issues fuelled by money problems are more acute than ever. CALM saw a 43% increase in people accessing their services because of money worries when the cost-of-living crisis began, and calls have remained high since. The Money Talks report explores how money worries affect our relationships, our physical and mental wellbeing, and why it can be difficult to open up. The research highlights that a quarter of UK adults worry about money at least daily and three quarters of people don’t talk about their money worries, mainly because they’re too embarrassed or don’t want to be a burden. To raise awareness and help people get the help they need before they reach crisis point, we’ve created The Money Talks hub (links below). The hub features first-hand money experiences, expert guides, and tips on having conversations about money. Help us smash the stigma by sharing the Money Talks resources with your networks; from customers to colleagues and loved ones. Let’s break the taboo and talk money. Visit the Money Talks hubs: https://www.moneysupermarket.com/moneytalks/ https://www.thecalmzone.net/money-talks
Flexible working is at our core, so it’s great to be shortlisted for the Flexa 100 awards this year! With our hybrid approach we spend 40% of our time over a month in the office, and the rest wherever works best for us. Now all we can do is wait for 21 February when we find out where we rank!
We're thrilled o have been shortlisted for the plc awards 2023 Tech Business of the Year Award! A huge congratulations to all the nominees within this category which acknowledges the emergence of tech companies driving economic growth and reshaping the way people communicate, consume information, shop, socialise, and work. #PLCAwards #HelpingHouseholdsSave
In January 2023 we launched our charity partnership with Campaign Against Living Miserably. Throughout the year our teams worked together to raise £136,936 (if we’re being precise) to help CALM keep doing what they do best – saving lives. There’s been weightlifting, pancake flipping, cake baking, a lot of trekking, fundraising gigs and so much more. 2024 was meant to be the second and final year of our partnership. But after getting to know the team, seeing the engagement from our people, and fully understanding the scale of the problem they’re tackling, instead of one more year together, we’re committing to another two so we can continue to stand together, united against suicide. 💚 💚 💚 Stay tuned because we’ve got something important coming your way and we’ll need your help to share the message.
What is your favourite part of the job? “When a (machine learning) model is put into production. Getting to see how the output that your model has generated actually affects / gets used by consumers is a very cool feeling.” What are you most proud of in your career to date? “My proudest achievements to date, would be the publication of my first paper. Having a non-traditional background that deviates from computer sciences, this publication was a demonstration that I am capable within this field.” Say hello to Senior Data Scientist, Anna Nguyen in our latest people insight story.
This week we received the #5 ranking within The Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers list, and we’re absolutely thrilled! This news gives us the perfect opportunity to reflect on the past year and just some of what we’ve been doing to become an even more inclusive organisation. In 2023 we kicked off our first ever technology apprenticeship scheme and partnered with organisations like InnovateHer which focus on getting girls ready for the tech industry. Just last month we sponsored the DEI changemaker programme with Communicate Inclusively and earlier this year partnered with We Are Black Journos in our search for MoneySavingExpert.com interns. We joined forces with Campaign Against Living Miserably to celebrate love, unity and diversity in Manchester Pride and, with our employee resource groups, launched our transgender and gender nonconforming guidelines. In the summer we ran our first ever ‘Big Money Workshop’, giving colleagues time during working hours to live our purpose and make sure they were saving their own households money, with a series of talks and support around financial wellbeing. We’ve also been recognised in the 2023 FTSE women leaders review as #1 for women on boards in the technology sector and commended for being in the FTSE250 top ten best performers overall for four years in a row. But we won’t stop here. We’ll build on the initiatives we’ve put in place and the DEI strategy that’s guiding us forward, so that we can continue to make more progress.
Moneysupermarket Group are attending UK Black business week, and went to the launch event - a great opportunity to connect with colleagues attendee's hadn't met before but also a great chance for networking!
A group of colleagues set themselves a goal of lifting over 200,000kg to represent the number of attempted suicides in the UK last year. Not only did they hit that target, they absolutely smashed it with a final total of 302,911kg lifted. They raised just under £3K in funds for Campaign Against Living Miserably along the way, the cost of approximately 350 potentially life saving calls to CALM’s helpline. Responsible for organising the event were Tess Clouston and Ken Talbot, here’s what Ken had to say “We honestly did not expect such a positive response. Lifting is hard, it alienates most people, particularly those that doubt themselves. But there was so much active interest from across Moneysupermarket Group. During this fundraiser, we have restarted fitness journeys, hit personal goals and shared motivation and knowledge with each other.” #BelongatMSMG
