Did you know... we've been connecting family, friends, and businesses around the globe for more than 50 years. Our Technical Ceramics business manufactures ceramic cores for this exciting industry. Our ceramic cores are a critical component in the manufacture of complex castings for aircraft engine turbine blades. Essentially, they're used to create the space, or cavity, which is needed for cooling and keeping the engine at its optimal standard throughout your flight. This is a growing need as engines become hotter so they can reduce their fuel burn and their CO2 emissions. The materials used to make our cores are specially formulated so engine designers can maintain tight tolerances throughout the manufacturing process. The team at our Gujarat site, which is located within an area of high water stress, have focused on protecting this precious natural resource. Following an on-site water audit, the team identified opportunities to reduce, reuse & recycle water usage at the site. The audit has resulted in the commissioning of a new on-site waste water treatment plant. The treatment plant uses a reverse osmosis & ultrafiltration system, which in turn enables the site to reuse treated waste water in the site's production processes. This change has led to an impressive 15 kl/day of water recycling capacity. This equates to an estimated 4000 kl/year water saving, assuming 260+ days on annual production.
