Meet Mike. Here’s what he loves the most of being able to work part time along his studies. ‘I started my career in PizzaExpress back of house during my 2nd year in College. Since then I have progressed within 4 years into a supervisor position. I love being able to support the different restaurants in York, Teesside Park and Newcastle to fit around my personal life, but to also support other teams when in need. The best perk of the role is being able to transfer to different restaurants to work around my uni schedule, it also helps me to take my mind off uni.’ #Pizzaexpress #Madebyyou #University #students
Meet Megan. Megan has been with us for almost 5 amazing years and here’s what she loves best about being a Pizzaiolo. ‘One of the best perks of the role is that I am able to transfer to between Glasgow and Gretna. Being able to work in the two different environments has helped me to develop my people and communication skills further. It has also made me more efficient in my job and more importantly, I am able to see my family more and maintain a good work life balance.’ #PizzaExpress #Madebyyou
Meet Kyle. He joined us as a Trainee Pizzaiolo in Gretna Gateway and shares his journey in becoming a Restaurant Manager. 'When I finished my Pizzaiolo training I went to Inverness to help out. I learnt so much while I was there and saw the bigger picture of PizzaExpress. Since then, I’ve never looked back and covered in Hull, Teesside, Gateshead, Glasgow and Edinburgh. The people I met in these restaurants will always hold a special place in my heart as they helped my development. I took the plunge and decided to move to Aberdeen to live with my girlfriend, where I transferred to the Union Square restaurant. I enrolled onto the Assistant Manager programme. During this time we had a new Restaurant Manager, they taught me a lot about the role and what it takes to be a manager. I am now a Restaurant Manager and have been very lucky with my time at PizzaExpress. Wherever I have gone, I have had an amazing group of people and mentors around me. The best part is that I now have the opportunity to help 17 people to develop themselves into senior roles.' #PizzaExpress #Madebyyou
Meet Katie. Here's why she would recommend PizzaExpress as a great place to work. 'Having recently completed my management training course, I was 6 months into the Assistant Manager role in Torquay. During the pandemic, when the restaurants were closing I was put onto furlough. I was asked if I wanted to relocate to Jersey, at the time I was very reluctant, as I had a mortgage and a kitten to consider. I took a u-turn and decided to take advantage of this opportunity and relocate to Jersey. Not only have I gained more experience professionally in a busier restaurant, I have also developed more confidence with myself as I was able to move on my own. I feel more proud and open to new challenges. I absolutely love working in Jersey and my team. I would definitely recommend transferring between sites.' #PizzaExpress #Madebyyou

Meet Damien. Here’s what he loves about his job. ‘I'm a waiter and have been with PizzaExpress for a fantastic 6 years. One of the best perks of the role is that I am able to transfer between the Jesmond restaurant at university and the Teesside restaurant at home. This allows me to maintain flexibility around my university studies in Newcastle, whilst keeping my financial situation and income secure! It's one of the many things that makes working as a waiter in PizzaExpress the greatest things.’ #PizzaExpress #Madebyyou #University

Exam results are in. Things have gone to plan or they might have not. It’s safe to say it’s been a hard year all around. At PizzaExpress, we believe grades don’t define you, so why not consider a career with us, or perhaps a part time job to support your studies. Here’s Joe’s story ‘I finished college 2 years ago. Whilst completing my A-levels I was working full time as a supervisor in PizzaExpress. It was really flexible, and it didn’t interfere with college as I was able to work around the school and work hours. The best part of this was that I was able to use my leadership skills from the restaurant as evidence for coursework in college and this helped me to complete my studies. I decided not to go to university but instead to pursue a management career with PizzaExpress. It has been a great experience and I am absolutely loving the training programme to become an Assistant Manager.’ Follow the link jobs.pizzaexpress.com to view the jobs available for you.
