RUDDING PARK REVEALS £1M INVESTMENT TO BOOST EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT We have completed work on a £1M development of the Green Room, new employee cafe along with an extension to the office space. The investment – designed to boost employee engagement and future proof the business – was critical, as to support our development plans over the coming years. It’s also important we do everything we can to retain our employees and keep them motivated to engender long term loyalty as we plan for the future. The name for the new cafe is a nod to the parallels between the hospitality and entertainment industry. In hospitality we refer to ‘front of house’ where the team are ‘on stage performing’ for guests. The entertainment industry has the Green Room, ‘a room in which performers can relax when they are not performing’, so this offered the perfect inspiration. Now, when our team head ‘back stage’ they have their own ‘Green Room; just like the movie stars!”

Rudding Park and Harrogate Theatre have launched an exciting new partnership designed to share their knowledge and skills set with each other, to help their teams develop both professionally and personally through a series of fun and creative workshops. Kate Robey, Head of Learning and Development at Rudding Park explains “Many of our team are GenZ and it may be their first job so they can be a little shy or lack confidence. As a responsible employer we want to support our team and give them the tools to develop and grow, both professionally and personally. However we like to do things differently at Rudding Park!” Nicola Cook, Head of Marketing at Rudding Park explains “It occurred to me there is a real synergy between hospitality and theatre. In hospitality, we talk about ‘front of house’, where we are effectively on stage ‘performing’ for guests, although a stage is not necessarily our natural environment. Meanwhile, actors offer a wide range of excellent communication skills which are vital in the hospitality industry, so it makes complete sense to work together." 23 Jan 23
We have planted a time capsule with the help of Follifoot Church of England Primary School, marking 50 years since the Mackaness Family bought Rudding Park. The capsule was planted alongside a time capsule planted in 1997 to mark the 25th anniversary of the family’s ownership of Rudding Park. Replicating the format from 1997, school children from Years 1-6 at Follifoot C of E Primary School were invited to enter a competition to create a piece of artwork which depicted a winters’ day in Follifoot. 23 January 2023
We have invested over £50K into commissioning 12 new Electric Vehicle chargers. The chargers are available to the public and a welcome addition for local residents and visitors to Harrogate who have already chosen to switch to electric vehicles. The units, which are 22kw each are electrically fed from the Rudding Park Energy Centre and therefore the EV Chargers benefit from a 30% reduction in Carbon Dioxide emissions (compared to normal grid supplied chargers). Purpose built, the chargers are enabled with latest technologies with sufficient electricity supply to deliver a consistent and fast charge across all bays.
