Last week, we welcomed Jiny Kim, Vice President of Policy and Programs for Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC, to our Unscripted session on “Breaking the ‘Model Minority’ Myth”, hosted by Joon Silverstein, Coach’s SVP Global Digital & Customer Experience. During this discussion, held in honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Jiny spotlighted what has been an invisible but long-established backdrop of anti-Asian racism in America, and revealed just how pervasive and deeply rooted the ‘Model Minority’ myth is in society. Jiny also shared a number of resources with our employees, including this Bystander Intervention training created in partnership with Advancing Justice — AAJC and Hollaback!. Thank you for joining us, Jiny, and for your continued work advocating for the civil rights and empowerment of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Our internal Unscripted speaker series features guests who live our values to talk about current issues and topics. #OurTapestry #APAHM
In recognition of Asian American and Pacific Islanders Month and Mental Health Awareness Month, yesterday we welcomed Dr. Jada Jackson, esteemed therapist, author, coach, and motivational speaker, to lead a discussion on “Stress in Communities of Color: Finding Resilience.” While the past 12 months have been incredibly difficult for so many, communities of color have undeniably been impacted by additional stressors. In this session, Dr. Jada shed light on the chronic stressors that communities of color continue to face on a daily basis and guided employees through topics like chronic stress, discrimination and its effects on mental health, racial trauma - and how to build resilience in the face of it all. Thank you, Dr. Jada, for this empowering discussion! It served as a powerful reminder to examine and reflect on the impact of stress in different communities. #OurTapestry #aapimonth #mentalhealthawarenessmonth
