In celebration of Earth Day last week, we proudly shared that Newsweek named Tapestry one of ‘America’s Most Responsible Companies of 2021!’ Newsweek used a four-phase process - focusing on the categories of environmental, social, and corporate governance - while also taking into consideration the American public’s perception to produce a final score, sub-scores, and an overall rank. We ranked in the top 15% out of 2,000 of the largest companies in the country. This April, we continue our commitment to the CEO Action pledge by participating in the ‘Month of Understanding.’ Focused on courageous conversations, we are listening, learning and challenging ourselves to think outside our own individual experiences. In recognition of Yom HaShoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day – we were honored to be joined by Toby Levy, who shared her personal and powerful story of how her family survived the Holocaust. As part of our Unscripted speaker series, we invited Toby and Barry Levine, from the American Society for Yad Vashem, to educate employees on the learnings from the Holocaust, which are especially important for today’s world. Toby Levy was born in Chodorow, Poland in 1933. In 1942, Toby’s family was taken into hiding by Stefania and Tadeusz Struk, a Polish family who were customers of Toby’s father. They hid in the Struk’s barn for two years until they were liberated in 1944. To learn more about Toby, she was recently featured in The New York Times for her moving op-ed ‘The Holocaust Stole My Youth. Covid-19 Is Stealing My Last Years.’
At Tapestry, we are focused on creating an equitable, inclusive and diverse company where everyone can thrive. We’re saddened that anti-Asian hate continues to exist and heartbroken by the rising violence against the Asian community. To help make a difference, our employees teamed up to create the Tapestry Asian Community & Allies Task Force, focused on providing resources, raising awareness, and identifying philanthropic opportunities to support the Asian community at large. Today, our company Foundation committed a $100K donation to Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC—a nonprofit focused on advancing the civil and human rights for Asian Americans—as part of their larger Stop Asian Hate action plan. This organization was selected by our employee task force in support of advancing the non-profit’s mission. North America employee donations to organizations in support of racial, social and economic justice for the Asian community will be matched through our Foundation matching gift programs. We stand taller together. #OurTapestry #stopasianhate
