Job Title: Medical Secretary

Location: Clinical Genetics - Heavitree Hospital, Gladstone Road, Exeter, EX1 2ED

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday either 8.00am – 4.00pm / 9.00am – 5.00pm

Trust Location: Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS FT

Role type: Temporary for 6 months with possibility of extension

Duties to include but not limited to:

· Provide a range of medical secretary and administrative duties to support the clinical genetics department

· Checking letters and sending back to the appropriate clinics for final checks to be conducted

· Topping and tailing letters and sending letters out to patients

· Printing and adding letters to envelopes to send in bulk

· Typing duties – no audio typing required general typing and proof reading only

This role may require you to show evidence of vocational level 3 qualification or at least 2 years relevant experience.

You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:

1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS

2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times

3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

You’ll have the following skills/experience:

· Competent with Microsoft office programmes

· Ability to work under minimal supervision

· NHS experience (highly desirable)

· Excellent typing skills

· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
