How is management perceived at KPMG?

      KPMG reviews

      Overall average experience

      Financial analyst/associate
      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Colleagues on the same level as you are mostly friendly and approachable, good support from the company if you're pursuing professional qualifications

      Cons

Low pay and low bonus levels despite company claiming to have "increased revenue and profits YoY by 80%", managers consistently demand availability late at night, rather toxic culture of enforced overtime

      Good but industry lagging pay

      Consultant
      Current employee
      Mumbai
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Good work life balance and management is supportive of creating a good culutre

      Cons

Pay is below industry standards by 30-40%

      Not the best

      Anonymous employee
      Current employee
      Budapest
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Lot of home office possibilities, nice office

      Cons

Long working hours, no work-life balance, lot of overtime, not the best salary between the big4 companies, no free coffee i the office, Managers can be super rude

Good learning opportunity, toxic job lineups

      Audit associate
      Current employee
      Kuala Lumpur
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Less formal work environment - good for fostering closer personal relationships with colleagues & bosses Managers and most seniors are willing to teach junior staff - conditional on them having the time to do so Ability focused - the better you perform, the faster you learn & go up

      Cons

Seniors are often too busy and cannot teach junior staff in detail Juniors are increasingly thrown into the deep end with no meaningful support - training provided does not effectively address the issue as insufficient time is provided to learn & ongoing jobs will often interfere with the training - do your training and cannot finish your task, or do your task and don't learn anything from training, pick your poison Possible toxic interaction with managers and seniors - depend on your luck, some senior/manager/partner are very particular, audit work is already difficult enough, but they want to up the difficulty somemore Lack of staff - paid for 40 hours of work but expected to give 80. Will hear stories from management on how there is lack of resources and everyone expected to slash, job resources may be slashed by 20%, but no corresponding 20% increase in salaries for the team who pick up the slack, only higher recoverability and higher bonuses for management. Unsustainable resource allocation model - half the time the feasibility of completing audit work is based on the premise of working interns like full time associates but with 1/3 of the salary, unfair to the team as interns lack technical knowledge and unfair to the interns who are treated like slaves Toxic clients all around - either efficient but no manners, or nice but slow to provide PBC, and in some cases, slow and insufferable

      Pros

While taking employee to get them placed for international clients they offer WFH and later they asked to be work from office due to different reasons, if they say no HR team and the project management team will pressure them to put down the papers and give negative feedback even before stated working for there initial task they will share negative performance and ask the employees to put down the papers don’t join this company especially the team from Kochi, Fake work from home promise and unwanted harassments

      Cons

Nil to comment as there is no positive feedback

      Business outlook

      Pros

The culture here is great, managers are supportive and if you perform well, you will be promoted.

      Cons

All the burden can fall on you if you are talented...meanwhile others are doing nothing and enjoying

      Antiquated Company

      Scrum master
      Current contractor
      Montvale, NJ
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      Pay scale is about average.

      Cons

Strong, authoritative management holding onto their power and not willing to change, difficult to get things done, some male senior managers who only support their male direct reports and are unwilling to share credit for accomplishments.

      Great

      Audit executive
      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Great work culture, supportive team members, good Managers

      Cons

      Work Pressure and low pay

      Great Firm, ok people

      Audit associate
      Current employee
      Pittsburgh, PA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

KPMG is a challenging workplace that will help you grow to help you understand the profession more. You are often given opportunities to grow and try new things. Additionally, they are supportive of you getting your CPA, even providing Becker materials. The pay is fairly competitive and you have a chance to make great connections. Generally, you are working with great peers who are quick to help if you are struggling to grasp a task. A big 4 firm that has a lot of respect and will look spectacular on your resume.

      Cons

Management clearly decides who is their favorite and pour endlessly into them. This is amplified when you are paired with management who may not show any favoritism towards you. It's also clear that some senior members of the team don't actually understand aspects of the audit as if you ask a question, they cannot provide any insight into a solution. Sometimes, the most help you can get when a client is giving you a hard time is "do the best you can", which shows a clear lack of backbone for management to actually support junior team members. Busy seasons can be mentally taxing, having to work 70- 80 hour work weeks.

      Toxic Culture: Stay Away!

      Senior accountant
      Current employee
      Vancouver, BC
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - opportunity to work on many complex clients - develop project management and leadership skills very quickly if you put in the time and effort to invest in yourself

      Cons

      - incredibly toxic work culture that permeates from the top down - senior managers who go behind your back and throw you under the bus with partners to disguise their own incompetence - if you’re in audit, they will sell you the opportunity to do rotations in other groups, but in reality the highly sought after advisory roles are extremely competitive and managers have no problem clawing you back on their audit files during your rotation - there have been at least four emergency meetings over the past six months to discuss retention and ways to improve the culture, with no real or concrete pathway for achieving this - this speaks to how toxic the culture is and perhaps an overhaul of the manager group is warranted
