      Store Assistant Interview

      7 Aug 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ASDA in Jul 2016

      Interview

Applied online and got a call about a week later inviting me in for a group interview session. The session consisted of several exercises to see how we worked in teams. At the end of the session we were informed we would receive an email to let us know if we were successful and would receive a one on one interview with a manager within a week. However, I never received an email. After calling the store one week later I was informed I had been successful and they were waiting for the manager, who had been on holiday for the past week, to give my details to them. I then received a call the next day saying they had got the wrong manager and it would be another 8 days before the manager got back from holiday. Almost 3 weeks after my initial group interview I got the call off the manager inviting me in for a one on one interview which I attended. At this interview I was asked where I had previously worked, and was then told I had never had a "customer service job" even though 2 of my previous employers would tell you they are customer service orientated. I was then shown around the store and asked to "face up" an aisle while he finished off the previous interview. Half an hour later he retrieved me from the shop floor and took me to finish the interview where I was then told I had a good work ethic but he wasn't sure whether I was worth investing time and money in due to me going back to uni, even though I had previously stated that I would like to come back to work at the store when I am back for the holidays. I was asked if I could attend a training session the following weekend if I was successful which I agreed to. I was told as I was leaving that I would receive a phone call by 6pm that evening to let me know if I was successful or not. However, the phone never rang. I rang the store a few days after the interview to try and found out the result of my interview and was informed that the manager I had interviewed with was off that day but he would be back in the next day, and the person I spoke to told me they would make sure he rang me, but I never got a call back. The online system is still saying my application is 'in progress' even though I have been led to believe that I have been unsuccessful based on me never getting a ca
