      General Accountant Interview

      21 Jan 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Accruent in Jan 2015

      Interview

First I got an aptitude test which went pretty well then scheduled a phone interview with a Junior Recruiter. My suggestion is, don't ask any technical questions about the position you are interviewing for to the recruiter since she (if you are unlucky to have the same interviewer) doesn't know the answers and she will get intimidated. Oh I also mentioned that I hold an MS in Accounting and have 8 months of Big 4 experience, the question I was asked at the end of the interview was something like "Do you know how to do Trial Balance and Closing Entries?" I was pretty shocked so please don't bother to ask any technical questions, use a very simple non-technical language to explain your background to HR if not they won't understand. I don't know about the people working here but the HR department definitely needs improvement and more experienced people. I was told that they will be in touch within a few days with next steps after the call but I haven't heard anything until I called them and let them know that I got a job offer and have to respond it soon. So if you are looking for a professional big company think twice about here. The office pics looks fun I guess that's a plus for fresh grads. With a quick search I found out that there are people who transferred to completely irrelevant departments with only a year of experience and no relevant degree, such as HR to biz analyst, so that was a little shady too in my personal opinion. Lastly, they ask about your "salary" expectations during the first 15 minutes pre-screening so be prepared.

      General Accountant Interview

      13 Aug 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Accruent

      Interview

The whole process took about two weeks. After I submitted my resume, I received an email a few days later asking me to compete an assesment test. Half of it is personality-related. The other half is IQ related with 50 questions that you have 15 minutes to get as many as you can correct. It wasn't too difficult - pattern recognition, basic algebra, accuracy in reviewing matching/non-matching text, some vocab - that kinda stuff. After completing that (and passing), I spoke with a recruiter briefly and then was asked to compete the IQ part of the assesment again while being monitored (did it through webex). This is to make sure you didn't somehow cheat your way through the first one. After passing that again I was invited for interviews. I did 4 separate one-on-one interviews, plus met with recruiter for a benefits overview. All the interviews were fairly straightforward and everybody was easy to talk to. Most of the questions asked were values related to determine fit with the company culture. About 4 days after that I was contacted with an offer. The initial offer seemed way below market (which I suppose shouldn't be too surprising since that seems to be a pattern in the company reviews). I was able to negotiate a bit to at least get to an acceptable salary level. Decided to accept hoping that the opportunities for advancement and raises (biannual reviews with merit-raise possibility) they talked about are actually there. Overall, the recruiter was wonderful to work with. She kept me informed along the way and answered all of my questions very quickly throughout the process.

      General Accountant Interview

      26 Feb 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Austin, TX
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Accruent (Austin, TX) in Nov 2011

      Interview

I originally applied online then the next day I received an email invitation to take an online assessment test. That took a while to take. Then they called me a few days later and I had a phone call from a recruiter. That went really well so she invited me in for a in-person interview the next week. She said it would take half a day. Once I was there she greeted me and took me in to take a shorter version of that online test to verify that I did not fake anything. From there I met with the Accounting Manager and the Finance Director and the HR Director. It really did take about 4 hours. Then the next day they called and said that they forgot to talk salary with me. I was looking for more than they were offering. I told them I couldn't go that low but did give them a number lower than my orignal request. I was not offered the position at that time as she said she'd get back to me. I waited over a week, and figuring they had chosen someone else, I thanked them for the opportunity. The recruiter called again saying they still hadn't decided. About 3 weeks later they called and said they chose someone else. It took a long time to get a final answer which was disappointing but I did enjoy the staff and the interview process.
