      Operations Analyst Interview

      8 Mar 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Adequant in Feb 2016

      Interview

Applied online. Got an email same day for an in-person interview. I came prepared for the in-person interview and was met with the worse interview experience I've ever had. Quite frankly, I felt as if I was in a sitcom. Why? I came professionally dressed as every individual should. I don't judge the interviewer's attire mainly because it doesn't matter to me, but what I do expect from every interviewer is respect. I was brought to the interview room, but on the way the interviewer and I had to go through a living room type of space. There was a dog that nearly jumped on me and was aggressively barking at me. I wasn't bothered by this because I was focused. The interviewer apologized and we proceeded. During the interview, it appeared as if the interviewer didn't even know who I was and my background. So I gave him a copy of my resume, which I brought, and asked if he needed a moment to look through it. He did. As the interview continued, he asked me several irrelevant questions that did not relate to the position of Operations Analyst. He would even contest answers regarding my current job, which didn't make any sense because he has no experience in what I do currently. As the interview went on, the dog began to scratch at the door and the interviewer had to take the dog to another room, so that I wouldn't be bothered when in fact he was the one who was bothered. I was fine. The interview ended with him not even asking me whether I had any questions except one: "were you bothered by the dog?" I am completely serious about everything above. The interview lasted less than 20 minutes. I felt as if a phone screen should have been conducted, so I at least have the chance to make sure that I don't waste my time and days off. My advice for future interviewees: make sure you go in the interview prepared to interview the interviewer. Employers have lots of power in the hiring process, but you have the power to make sure that you don't waste your time on potential employers who are not ready to accept the high quality of work and dedication that you will bring on day one. Look for a boss that can actually mentor you and not one that appears to lack experience and professionalism. This is your career and you should make sure that you put yourself in a good situation.
