I had an initial call with the recruiter and then a call with the hiring manager. The recruiter call was really weird. She called me with no notice and asked me why I was interested in this role at Advarra. I thought it was unprofessional for her to just call unannounced like that and expect me to speak to specifics about the company. She didn't really ask me any other questions, but moved me forward to the hiring manager screen. I was surprised she didn't want to know a little more about my background and expectations before moving me forward. The hiring manager screen was actually really great. I really enjoyed the hiring manager and think we had a great conversation. He told me that he had some other interviews lined up, but that the recruiter would get back to me in about 5 business days with next steps....but I never heard from the recruiter. About 1.5 months after the hiring manager interview I got an automated email saying "Thank you for applying, but the position has been filled". Advarra seems like a cool company, but candidates deserve better than the subpar experience of working with this recruiter. I feel like my time was wasted. At a time when the job market is very tough for many candidates, I find it frustrating when a company's recruiting process feels heartless.
