      Sales Manager Interview

      19 Sept 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at American Income Life in Sept 2017

      Interview

First off, I wish I read these interview reviews before I wasted 3 trips to Minneapolis. The interview process is a big joke and they will sell you on a six figure dream income. Basically you fill out a personality sheet then wait in the lobby with 15 other people interviewing. Then you meet one on one with a manager. I probably said 3-4 sentences before the manager said "Hey I really like you." They pretty much do this to make you feel special then they invite you back like it's some exclusive thing. When you come back it turns out everyone was invited back. Then you sit through a half hour presentation on people saying things like "I love the freedom", "I can't believe how realistic this income is", and "I helped a family through a financial crisis". Coming from the financial services industry, it seemed like their products did not take care of everything they should really take care of after a death. Also they only sell to people in a Union or people within a union who refer friends, they call it a sponsorship to make it seem exclusive but this company could sell to anybody if they wanted to; they create a false scarcity and exclusivity. You are a 1099 contractor but required to attend daily meetings (which is somehow supposed to fit within their suggested schedule). Then they have the tenacity to say you will never cold call. What? That's impossible because they make you track 75 calls per day. If calling on a person after you've mailed something isn't a cold call then I must need to go back to the sales basics. With all that said if you follow the schedule (which is essentially 10 to 9), make the calls, do the meetings, and stay committed you could probably be successful here. I would say that based om the products they offer there is a huge margin for failure even if you do everything right. This is why I chose to go a different route. I think they hire as many people as possible knowing most will fail.

The interview went really despite the fact that the job I applied for was not the job they were describing to me. After doing some reviews of the company after I left I discovered that the company was nothing more than a MLM scam
