I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at American Income Life in Dec 2014
Interview
I got a cold call from a resume I had up on CareerBuilder.com. Then I got called in for an initial interview and presentation. The presentation talked about the company's unique structure and payment system. It's a lot like a multi-level marketing structure, but the company mainly sells life insurance to union workers. They promise a lot of benefits in terms of advancement within the company and earning "residuals" for every insurance plan you write up. They employ some hard sell techniques and I couldn't tell if they really liked me, or if they just want to hire as many people as they can because the system has you making money based on hiring lots of people.
During my interview, I was offered the job on the spot. I think I only talked to one person. They had some kind of info session before too but it wasn't an interview
