      Interview

Unprofessional and Disorganized Recruitment Process I recently applied for two positions at ARM Cambridge, and my experience was completely opposite to my expectations. For the first position, a recruiter from ARM reached out to schedule a sync-up. I responded within an hour, yet the recruiter kept postponing, saying they would contact me "tomorrow." This cycle continued for over 10 days the recruiter mentioning that we need to schedule a call and asking for timeslot. Eventually, I received an email asking for a time slot on the very same day, to which I promptly responded—only to be met with silence again. A few days later, I received a rejection email without any discussion, despite repeated attempts to schedule a conversation. The second experience was even worse. A different recruiter sent me a calendar link to book a slot, indicating interest in my profile. I booked a time, but before the scheduled discussion, I received a rejection email. Then, surprisingly, a day before the supposed sync-up, I got a reminder email for the meeting. On the meeting day, there was no call at the agreed time. Instead, I received a meeting invite four minutes late, rescheduling it 30 minutes ahead. I accepted, only to receive yet another reschedule—this time to a slot that had already passed. I joined immediately and waited while also emailing the recruiter. After 15 minutes of silence, the recruiter finally responded, stating they were moving forward with other candidates. This level of disorganization and lack of communication was extremely unprofessional. I always thought ARM was a great company, but this experience made me question their recruitment policies and processes. It was disappointing to see such poor candidate experience from a company of this stature.

      Interview

The interview process consisted of a screening followed by a take home programming assignment. The assignment was to be completed within 48 hours in c++. Next there was a long technical interview with questions around the programming assignment. There was also another problem which was discussed live during the interview. It ended with a few HR questions like where do you see yourself in the short term, etc.

      Question 1

Explain the structure of the programming assignment. Time and space complexity of the solution implemented.

The C keywords questions (volatile, const, static), and some related ones, I think I did well. :) The interview felt very easy, so I don’t understand why they didn’t make me an offer : ) . I believe they might just be trying to be different, but if that’s the case, they should also back it up with the kinds of questions they ask. My guess is they’re either choosing randomly or making decisions mainly based on cost.

      Question 1

      what is the volatile keyword.
