I received an email from a recruiter inviting me to complete a pre recorded video interview, and shortly after, I was asked to meet with the hiring manager. However, I never had any direct interaction with the recruiter beforehand and was given no context around compensation, process, or role expectations.
It felt unusual going into a hiring manager conversation without having spoken to anyone at the company first. Following the interview, I was told the recruiter would be in touch soon to discuss next steps and logistics, but I did not hear anything. I followed up via email and received no response for over a week.
Ultimately, I received a generic rejection email a couple of weeks later, which made the experience feel somewhat impersonal and similar to being ghosted.
That said, I know several people who work at the company and have had very positive experiences, so this felt like an outlier.
