Disappointing and Unprofessional Interview Process I had a two-round interview process with BMO. The first round was a one-hour phone call, where I was asked general technical questions, primarily focused on Angular, some on the SOAP protocol, and a few behavioral questions. The second round, held on December 20th, was a video call via Microsoft Teams. Unfortunately, this round felt like a mere formality, as though the position had already been filled. There was a significant lack of transparency throughout the process, and the information I received from my recruiter was completely inaccurate. I spent a week preparing based on the recruiter’s assurance that there would be no live coding in the interview. I asked multiple times for confirmation, and they explicitly told me not to worry about it. However, the day before the interview, it was rescheduled with just two hours' notice. Then, on the new interview day, only one of the three scheduled interviewers showed up. The interviewer, who kept their camera off the entire time while requesting that I turn mine on, made it difficult to establish any rapport or connection. The questions were primarily focused on Java and concurrency—topics I wasn’t prepared for, given the misleading guidance from my recruiter. Despite this, I was given a medium-level LeetCode problem, which I managed to solve theoretically due to my familiarity with similar problems. However, because I had switched between Java and Python frequently in my practice (and had been assured there wouldn’t be live coding), I struggled to write the solution on the spot. This experience was by far the worst I’ve had with any company. The lack of professionalism, the last-minute rescheduling, the absence of interviewers, the misleading guidance, and the overall disorganization left me feeling disrespected and undervalued. To make matters worse, even though this was the final round, I was never sent a rejection email. It has now been over a month with no communication from them. This process was deeply disappointing and has left a lasting negative impression. Based on this experience, I would not consider interviewing with BMO again.
