- CEO reached out to me via email.
- Initial call with recruiter
- Call with product team member
- Take home test (they're asking to do it in 3-3.5hrs)
- Final call with Head of department and Tech lead
I enjoyed talking with team members at Bark, and thank you for the interview opportunity. The role was presented as a greenfield project to create a platform from scratch, and a role with lots of autonomy.
Bark has done some research and have decided on how they want to do things. My approach was different than what they had in mind and they didn't make an offer. This highlights the issue in Bark's mentality of being inflexible even though explained other ways of doing it.
If they want to tell people how and what to do because they read some blog posts, my suggestion is to look for contractors instead. I was told during the interview someone spent 9 hours on this test and was unsuccessful.
VERY IMPORTANT: On call is not paid.
Just like any new company they prioritize new features than technical debt. For me this is important when it comes to on call. They mentioned they have some annoying repeated alerts that they don't fix because it's not a priority.
