I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at BlackRock (San Francisco, CA) in Dec 2010
Interview
I was recommended by an employee for an open position at iShares, which was acquired about a year ago by BlackRock, a much larger organization. The process started out with a phone screen by a manager. HR was involved from NYC; the position and all f2f interviews were in San Francisco. HR was perfunctory on my side of the process, and seemed only to set up interviews. HR couldn't answer basic questions about the people who would be doing the interviews, like titles of the interviewers were or what group they were in. About three weeks after the first phone interview, HR set up 5 f2f interviews which were handled very well. HR set up 5 more interviews, then cancelled them the day before, then reset for a couple weeks out, and these were also well conducted.

Question 1
General questions as expected. - Introduce yourself - Why do you want to work at Blackrock
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at BlackRock in Sept 2017
Interview
Phone interview with Future Advisor HR and COO resulting in discussions of setting up time to meet in person. Then the BlackRock HR group got involved and a lot of confusion ensued including conflict between the Future Advisor team and Blackrock. It's pretty clear Blackrock is taking more control after they acquired FutureAdvisor. After Blackrock got involved, the company decided to change the requirements of the role. They're still recruiting.

Question 1
Not really any material questions related to the role, mainly just background questions regarding my resume.
