I applied in-person. I interviewed at Bondars Furniture (Calgary, AB) in Jul 2025
Interview
The gentleman I met was cordial, but the interview itself was underwhelming. Most of the questions were about experience already stated on my resume. I was prepared for more “hard-hitting” questions, such as, “Can you tell me about a time you had to overcome adversity?” Since it was a management position, I expected a more in-depth interview.
Surprisingly, I was asked something I didn’t anticipate: “What is your experience driving a 3–5 ton truck?” This requirement was not mentioned anywhere in the job application. Had I known that driving experience was necessary, I wouldn’t have wasted my time applying—let alone driving to their warehouse and going through with the interview. I’m confused as to why I was selected if I lacked something as essential as the ability to perform deliveries when drivers are away or sick. That responsibility, in my opinion, should have been clearly outlined from the beginning. It just seems like poor management.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience and a waste of time and gas for an interview that lasted only ten minutes.
