I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Canonical (Boston, MA) in Dec 2024
Interview
Long, arduous interview process with little human interaction. The first stage is asynchronous, consisting of a lengthy written interview, a take-home technical interview, and a 'psychometric' exam.
The take home exam and technical interview were trivial, besides the weird focus on high school performance. The psychometric exam is essentially an IQ test and leaves a bad taste in the mouth. It might not have the discriminatory history of an IQ test, but it certainly doesn't welcome neurodiverse people who don't have strengths in long term memory and it is not related to the job function.
After this stage, I was invited to a series of three early stage interviews. The first two were easy, standard interviews and were a nice conversation. The final interview was a whiteboard interview, which was not made clear before... the interviewer has you solve a leetcode style question with no IDE. This is against my hiring philosophy.
Throughout the interviews, the interviewers highlighted the diversity of the company in their answers, yet all the interviewers were middle aged white men...

Question 1
Questions about linux experience, chmod, redirecting input/output pipes

Interview
The process is quite long and tedious, as others have reported, but not super difficult step by step. I don't regret going through it but they are flaky so would never hold my breath throughout the multi-month process.

Interview
This is a different interview process. I have not seen before. They ask question about high school grades and personality questions. There are also questions about past relevant experiences questions. It is a very long tedious process to answer all of those questions.
