My experience interviewing here over the course of a month-long process was extremely disappointing and unprofessional, especially for a charity that claims to value people and care, only to ultimately not offer the role to any of the candidates.
After a first online interview, I was informed late the same day (around 5pm) that I was required to attend an in-person interview the very next day, with no flexibility, as they stated a decision needed to be made that same week. As an unemployed candidate, this required last-minute travel and expense.
On the day, I was asked to complete two unannounced tasks with little to no explanation and was left alone without clear instructions or expectations. This felt disorganised and unfair, especially as no preparation time or guidance was communicated in advance.
The interview environment itself was uncomfortable. Interviewers came across as dismissive and frequently corrective in tone, making the process feel more like a test designed to catch candidates out rather than a two-way conversation. Both interviews also ran late, adding to the lack of respect for candidates’ time.
Despite repeatedly stating that a decision was urgent, the organisation ultimately did not offer the role to any candidate. Candidates were not informed proactively; instead, updates had to be chased through a recruiter days later. No direct communication or apology was provided by the organisation.
Asking multiple candidates to attend in person, complete tasks, and rearrange schedules under time pressure, only to abandon the hire entirely, demonstrates poor internal planning and a lack of consideration for candidates.
I would strongly caution anyone applying or considering working here. The recruitment process was chaotic, poorly communicated, and left candidates feeling undervalued and disrespected.
