I was called by David Poling to schedule an interview for later in the same week after responding to a Craigslist ad. He said I would receive an email from him confirming the details but it never came. I emailed the address given in the ad requesting confirmation of the interview. I arrived 10 to 15 minutes early, to Poling in the middle of another interview. There was no receptionist, I could just hear a conversation from the front desk and walked towards the voices. I waited about 10 to 15 minutes before I walked in and announced my presence. Poling said he would be with me shortly. 45 minutes later, after Poling walks the previous candidate to her vehicle, Poling addresses me and invites me to the interview room. He apologizes for running over and says he's not able to shake my hand because they're not clean. The interview was a total of 10 minutes and there were several times where Poling checked his phone as I was speaking. I'm not sure why the previous candidate was treated with such courtesy and I was treated with such disregard. However, I did notice that the previous candidate was a white woman and I am an African American woman.
