I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Culture Amp (Richmond, Victoria)
Interview
This was a few years ago but there were I believe 2 rounds, one more conversational interview that was worded as a presentation and one coding interview. I visited their office after the first one and got told to ask lots of questions on the coding interview, because it was meant to be collaborative but then no one was really “collaborating” on their end. Then got feedback that I could have asked less questions ( I still only asked like 3 because the explanation could have used some clarity ). It was some simple data structure stuff, you could use pandas and it did half the work for you. Then I was told I got accepted. Then got a call saying they’d send a letter of offer in 2 weeks, after 2 weeks I followed up, got an email saying they needed to have a board meeting or something, waited another 4 weeks while following up then got an email saying they cancelled the graduate program for the year… after everyone who got told they got the job probably stopped applying and interviewing for other programs and likely had to find something else. Very unprofessional in that regard. The people AT the office were very welcoming and nice but the hiring process was handled horribly especially in the later stages
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Project presentation (15 mins)
We’ll start off the conversation by asking you to talk to us through a recent project you have worked through. We’d love to understand:
How did you approach the project?
What went well?
What choices did you have to make?
What challenges did you face?
What would you do differently?
What did you learn during the project?
You can share your screen, and talk through the project in whatever way you feel most comfortable. Fancy slides are not necessary (we don’t want you to spend the time it takes to prepare something like that), but of course you can use visual aids if that’s your preferred way to communicate an idea. Please aim for about 10 minutes with your presentation, so we have 5 minutes left to ask follow-up questions.
Collaborative technical exercise (40 mins)
Attached is a technical exercise that we’ll go through during this section of the interview. We’ll start by discussing how you might approach this type of task, and then begin a collaborative coding session based on the exercise. There’s detailed information in the attached file, so please familiarise yourself with those instructions before the interview.
If you have any concerns about the technical exercise, please let us know before your interview. We’ve done our best to make this exercise as approachable as possible for candidates with varying backgrounds and experience levels, but we recognise that coding in an interview situation is always stressful. We are open to discussing reasonable adjustments that might enable you better to demonstrate your capabilities to us.
Candidate questions (5 mins)
An opportunity to ask any questions you might have for the engineers on your interview panel.
