My recruitment process started with the classic screening, which was done by someone replacing her colleague. I advanced to what I thought was a manager interview, but the interaction felt strange as I was the only one asking questions. I had prepared 15 questions to better understand the role, but left unsure whether the interviewer was supposed to be my manager or teammate. Shortly after, I received an email asking me to complete a home assignment—without confirming if the timeline worked for me, despite my full-time job.
After submitting the assignment, I received no acknowledgment for several days, even after sending three follow-up emails. Suddenly, I got an email to schedule a short 30-minute interview, again with no phone communication or clarity about the process. During this interview, I found myself asking all the questions once more, as the interviewer seemed unprepared.
After days of silence, I received another email scheduling a final interview. The interviewer abruptly cut me off after 15 minutes, thanked me, and closed the Zoom call, leaving me stunned. Two hours later, I received an impersonal email stating I was not a good fit—no call, no explanation, no consideration.
