I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Diagnostic Laboratory Services
Interview
The first interview went well.
Prior to the second interview, a 10-key, alphanumeric, and typing test was given.
If you are successful then you will be interviewed by two alleged lab managers. The two lab managers that interviewed me were idiots. They had no indept knowledge of laboratory equipment or procedures. They could not explain the duties that would be expected of a laboratory assistant. In fact, they looked confused when I asked about it.
They were not interested in my education or prior research. The interviewers gave the impression that they already had a candidate selected. Here in Hawaii, it is common practice to hire unqualified family members or friends. It is extremely difficult to obtain employment if you do not "know the right person."

Interview
Applied online, took a month before I got a phone call for an interview. First interview was with someone from HR. Second interview was with two supervisors who are both MT's. Interviews were an average of 45mins. The first interview felt more like I was just talking "story" with the HR person. I believe she just wanted to see my personality. Second had to do more with the job and what may be required of me. After the interview they contacted me a few days later but the start date wasn't until a month later.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Mostly scenarios from previous experience and scenarios with things I may encounter as a phlebotomist. And how would I describe myself? How would others describe me? Why I want to work for DLS? What have I heard about DLS? Basic questions.

Interview
First HR will conduct the personal interview. If you make it then a department supervisor/seniors will conduct another panel interview. You will pretty much feel if you will get the job on the second interview. wait for one week for them to call you for the job offer. last step is background check, don't be surprised if it will take a month (specially if you came from other country). when everything is clear then you will do the drug screening, thats the last step of application
