      Algorithm Engineer Interview

      11 Oct 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Sydney
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at DroneShield (Sydney) in Jun 2024

      Interview

Last technical interview stage. Interview started with bad energy. Office was full and it was so quiet, you could hear my feet padding on the carpet. What kind of company claims innovation, yet no meaningful discussions occur? Asked relevant technical questions for the first 30 minutes that were not difficult. However, proceeded to ask niche Tracking questions, even though it was not part of the job description and I explicitly stated I did NOT know about that specific algorithm. Also made it blatantly obvious that they discriminate based on previous job history! Under the impression that people working for Government Organisations do not have the work ethic for their company. Why even proceed with the final interview then? I prefaced early on that I do not have extensive C++ experience but were happy to proceed with the final interview. Only to be rejected for lack of C++ skills (they asked no C++ questions in the final interview?) and being in government. Sloppy and incredibly unprofessional. All the hype … for now …
