I applied through university. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Edifice Information Management Systems (Riverdale, NJ) in Mar 2009
Interview
They usually seek graudates from Indiana Unversity or NJ or NY colleges because the founder is from Indiana and went to IU. They also live in New Jersey in this area where the company is located.
They usually have an initial call-out at IU where they make a presentation about the company to try to recruit IU grads. Then, you'll have to schedule an interview with one of their interviewers using Career Services. If you make the first cut, they'll try to interview you again at Career Services. If they like you a second time, they'll fly you out to their NJ headquarters later down the line. They'll interview you with the various people in the Business Intelligence Department along with some cross-functional employees and managers to see if you have the prerequisite basic excel knowledge and business knowledge, minimum experience.
They are looking for tech-savvy analysists who are willing to adapt and grind it out in an "entrepreneurial environment", meaning a small-to-medium sized company of 50ish employees.
You'll take an excel proficiency test or 2. Maybe a technology familiarity test as well. Then you'll fill out paperwork noting references, etc. If they choose you, they'll call you back maybe a week to a month later.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The most difficult part of the interview is trying to understand what exactly the company actually does and how their operations work. You may have one idea, but might be surprised to learn it isn't really how it works once you get hired.
You might get caught off guard by coding questions for SQL or excel VBA is you're more advanced. But, also don't forget they'll probably want you to have some knowledge of retail terminology, especially inventory and replenishment terminology, and different types of sales report/business terminology and equations that deal with time, sales, inventory, replenishment, etc.
If you understand sales reports, edi's, excel report generation using VBA and SQL and retail manufactures, especially for sporting goods companies, you'll be well on your way to getting a job here.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Edifice Information Management Systems (Parsippany, NJ) in Mar 2012
Interview
The interview comprised of an initial telephonic conversation with HR, followed by a Phone interview with a Manager.
The Phone interview was followed by an in-person interview where you have a 1:1 with 3 different Managers.
After the interview,no response to any e-mails by HR. Very unprofessional attitude by HR.
