I was contacted by their recruiter who was very excited about my background and thought I would be a great fit for the position. I was cool with salary they were offering and had just left a job at a Gen Z company where my duties and responsibilities were exactly the same as the job in question, so it seemed like a perfect fit. The recruiter warned me that the person I would be interviewing with was one of the founders, and that he was quite young. This didn’t bother me. I interviewed with him and it seemed to go really well. After the interview, I got ann email from the founder and he asked me to do a project within a very short time frame. I completed the project within the time frame, and didn’t hear back for a long time. Finally the recruiter got in touch and told me that they thought I was “too senior” for the role. Basically a nice way of saying the dude you interviewed with thought you were too old, but he made you do a project for free anyway. I could sue for age discrimination. Complete waste of my time.
