      Communications Officer Interview

      22 Sept 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Elsevier (London, England) in Sept 2020

      Interview

I was contacted by the internal recruiter to arrange for a phone call. She described it as an "informal chat" so I assumed it would be the standard screening questions to go through my CV quickly as well as my notice period and salary expectations. On the day of the call, she emailed me 15 minutes beforehand to reschedule then emailed again to say it was back on. She was then 10 minutes late. No apology. The call turned out to be a much more in-depth interview with competency questions. Thankfully I was able to pivot to this. I was asked if I had a science degree which, looking at my CV and application form, was obvious I didn't but I did have the working experience having worked in exactly the same role in a very prominent STEM university. Pretty sure this is what sinched it. 5 days later I was sent an automated email (the kind you get at application stage) to say I was out of the running. No other feedback. Having now read other reviews about the interview process, I'm just happy I didn't invest the hours and multiple stages of interviews before being rejected so impersonally. I appreciate everyone is busy but some feedback is reasonable to expect.
