      Marketing Interview

      9 Sept 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Engine

      Interview

Usual phone screen, multiple hiring manager meetings, cross-functional interviews, and final project. After the final interview and project review, there were an additional 2-3 interviews. One yellow flag I noticed was during the first interview when the hiring manager noted that several senior leaders left the company after just a few months because "they couldn't handle it here". Overall, I invested about 20 hours into the process. Not an insignificant amount for a role. After a week of silence, I received a generic rejection letter. Pro-tip for recruiters: If a candidate makes it to final rounds and has invested almost a half work week in the process, it's considered unprofessional not to deliver this news via a personal call or email explaining more than "we went with another candidate"

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Engine (Denver, CO) in Jul 2024

      Interview

An incredibly frustrating and unprofessional process. A recruiter reached out to me for the role, and I spoke with her the next day. Two days later I spoke with the CMO who advised that I'd be invited back to the next round. Completely ghosted after that despite multiple attempts at outreach to the recruiter and hiring manager. One thing is not hearing back when you send a resume. But for a recruiter to specifically reach out and then nobody follow up after two interview rounds is very disappointing.

      5 Dec 2019

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Engine (Denver, CO) in Oct 2019

      Interview

Phone screen > Onsite > Group Interview > Presentation. Their interview process took about 2- 3 weeks which is relatively quickly these days. The final interview was a marketing presentation that took me about 6 hours to complete. They've got some smart people working there and an exciting environment. I felt the presentation was received well with lots of positive feedback. After what had the look and feel of a great opportunity and good fit all the way around, I was sent a standard form email simply saying they went in a different direction. That was disappointing and really soured my experience with them. The time I spent on the project, interviewing, researching and coming onsite two separate times made me feel like I'd earned more than a standard rejection email.
