I applied in late March and participated in four, one hour interviews, with different levels of the of the Policy and Research Team over the course of one month. I also completed a hiring assignment as part of interview process. I was scheduled for my fifth and final interview with the Executive Director. This interview was canceled the night before it was scheduled. I was instructed it would be rescheduled in three weeks. After four weeks passed, I reached out for more information, and was told they did not have timeline for when the interview would be rescheduled. Four weeks later, I was informed a different candidate was selected for the position. I have never experienced such terrible communication and a blatant lack of respect for employment candidates then I did with FJP. Allegedly, right before I was scheduled for my final interview, the current chief staff abruptly resigned and hiring resources needed to be focused on filling this position. This communicated structural instability in this organization. My advice to future applicant's is to look elsewhere for policy and research work. You can find several organizations with the same mission who will give you more respect and more pay for your work and time. I was very disappointed with FJP. I have always loved their work, and their staff seem wonderfully dedicated to progressive criminal-legal system reform.
