      Technical Product Manager Interview

      21 Feb 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Fermata Energy

      Interview

It would have been a (4) round interview process. 1 with HR (30) minutes 1 with the hiring manager 1 technical project and presentation interview 1 with the VP I had an informal coffee chat with the hiring manager to understand the role more as it was unique and they really liked my background. That’s where things started to go down hill. I was scheduled for an interview with HR and there was a lack of communication, very cold, and very set and done. Then when I had the interview I found out they were in the middle of cooking (not actively cooking) however they were very distracted; they should have rescheduled. They were ill prepared and their comments next really rubbed me the wrong way. “Oh your resume isn’t in my stack, the hiring manager gave it to me to interview you so I have to get it done” They were highly unprofessional and frankly, I think they already had a bias against me because I’ve held different titles than was actually on the role. However, I don’t think that they really even understood or talk to the hiring manager because they would’ve understood that this is what the hiring manager was seeking were skills from my background. There was a reason I took the extra steps to make sure I was a fit, because while the title wasn’t exactly the same, my skills matched. They asked zero behavioral questions which was astonishing. One question was all she had after milling over my résumé for five minutes, after being late, then being distracted, not prepared, unprofessional behavior, and ultimately had bias against me as a candidate. When I asked what reservations they had they proceeded to tell me I’m at the bottom of the barrel and other candidates have better experience. Even though EV was not a requirement and even mentioned that in the job description. Highly unprofessional and honestly should be fired for their behavior. I would have pulled out of the interview process, but the rejection came faster than I could formulate a professional response.
