I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Foothill Technology Solutions (Santiago) in Aug 2025
Interview
My experience with the hiring process was mixed. On the positive side, the initial interview was conducted in a respectful and professional manner. I received very encouraging feedback right after, which made me feel that things were moving forward.
However, communication afterwards was poor. I had to wait several weeks and follow up multiple times before receiving a final response. The rejection itself was confusing: I was told that my technical level did not meet their expectations for a Senior role, yet in the same message it was acknowledged that my leadership and teaching abilities clearly place me at the Senior level. Additionally, salary was mentioned as an issue, even though the number had been proposed by the company itself, not by me.
Overall, the process lacked transparency and consistency, and the long delays created unnecessary expectations. I would suggest the company work on providing clearer and more timely feedback to candidates to leave a better professional impression.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The interview centered on reviewing a C# class and exploring ways to refactor it to make the code more efficient, elegant, and decoupled. From there, the discussion moved casually into common programming topics such as real-world examples of design patterns, SOLID and ACID principles, parallel programming, and issues like race conditions. Afterwards, I was given a simple database and asked to write a moderately complex query. Overall, the interview was conversational, focusing mainly on the reasoning behind the proposed refactorings and the concepts involved.
