I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Gartner in Sept 2018
Interview
I went through three interviews with Gartner's recruiters. Each interview was very interesting as at the end of each one I received constructive feedback. One of the recruiters, James Richardson really stood out. He is hands down one of the best recruiters I have ever met. Getting back to me rapidly with great feedback, spoke clearly and always made sure that there were no misunderstandings. Unfortunately I did not get the job, but, thanks to James and the other recruiters, I gained so much knowledge and leave with a positive impression of the company. I am certain that a great career lies in front of him and that the people that get interviewed by him are extremely lucky!

Question 1
The discovery call was difficult but definitely not impossible. The advice I can give for future candidates is that if you prepare too much in advance, writing down things to say, you will lose track. You really need listen and dig into what the person is saying.
They have reached out to me for a job every year and I have interviewed with them 2 times and have never made it past the 1st interview. Confused why a recruiter reaches out to me anymore?
It was long and rigorous, often feeling extremely high pressure, with not a lot of constructive criticism. There are 5 rounds and each with a role-play. It's safe to say this is not an easy interview process. I'm not sure how they do their prospecting, but I was apparently a 'great fit' for the role - didn't show that enthusiasm during our calls.
Intensive - multiple rounds led by a recruiter. Expect 2 rounds of role play, around 4 rounds total. 2 with a recruiter, one with a lead skills expert and another panel with VPs and hiring managers.
