I recently had a bad interview experience. After submitting my resume and having a brief phone interview, I was scheduled for a professional interview with the team leader and the R&D department. However, when I arrived, there was no professional interview. Instead, they reconfirmed details already provided in my resume.
During the interview, they mentioned a preference for hiring juniors and implied that my salary expectations were too high, despite having discussed this information prior to the interview. So why to call me if you cant afford me?
Additionally, they stated that they try to contact my current employer to get information about me without asking and telling me. This is problematic because I do not want my current employer to be aware of my job search.
No questions were asked to assess my programming skills. Instead, I was asked to provide two phone numbers of colleagues from my current workplace for recommendations. They mentioned that they might send me an exam to evaluate my knowledge afterward. But they told me many times that this is a problem. I asked the lowest salary considered published salary level to my work experience.
Overall, this experience felt pointless and unprofessional, as the interview did not assess my technical skills but merely revisited information already present in my resume. Telling me that they prefers people without programming experience and that I asking big salary.
