I had an appointment to see the GM at 10am. I was let into the building at 9.55 (they weren’t yet open) The first sign of anyone was two staff members behind the bar talking and swearing very loudly about the fridges not being stocked.
After waiting for 25 minuets the GM appeared and we moved to a different area.
Once The questioning was over I was invited to come down on Sunday lunch to observe the kitchen during a busy period. I arrived at 12 to observe but was told to put on chef whites and work behind the cook line. I worked for 3 hours with no sign of GM. Having not expected to be working I eventually asked if I could leave as I had other plans. I then waited at the bar for 40 minutes to speak to the GM about how it went. She seemed very nonchalant and said she would call me in the week.
It’s now 9 days later and I haven’t heard anything so I assume i didn’t get the job.

Question 1
Scripted questions only eg. Adaptation of language
Face to face interview with GM, relatively informal. Asked about my kitchen experience, leadership style, food safety knowledge, team development, handling pressure, and what I would bring to the role. The interview felt relaxed, and easy going.
