I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Headspace (Los Angeles, CA) in Feb 2018
Interview
This was truly a strange and disheartening experience. For my first phone screen interview I waited on the video call for twenty minutes alone before signing off. My interviewer FORGOT. I honestly should have just ended things there but I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
When I finally did the phone interview the questions, in my opinion, were not appropriate to the position - it was the exact same type of questions that I ask intern candidates my current position. The interviewer did not make any mention of higher-level topics like communication, mentorship, or planning. It was clear to me that he did not value those skills in a senior, whereas I do. After completing interview #1, they told me that they thought I would be a better fit for a different role, which was ok with me. However, my second interview was very much the same as the first.
After seeing a glimpse of their culture I honestly do not think that I would have been the right fit. The unprofessionalism and lack of courtesy in the interview process, and the lack of deep or meaningful interview questions left me feeling very disappointed.
