      Anonymous employee
      New York, NY
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Headway (New York, NY) in May 2024

      Interview

Interview was a really great process. Every step of the way had so much communication, and I always knew exactly what was next, how to prepare, and what to expect.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They have a very big mission so interview is a mix of skill related questions, and also behavioral type questions to make sure its a culture fit.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Headway in Aug 2024

      Interview

The interview process was lengthy and had me meet with a plethora of people. It started with a conversation with a Sourcer, who screened me for 30 minutes before sending me a 'take home assignment' that you are "supposed" to spend 90 minutes completing to learn more about the quota structure of the role. After this, there are two different 60 minute interviews, a Mock Discovery & a Behavioral Assessment, both held with different members of the sales team. Prior to these interviews you need to schedule another conversation with your Sourcer to walk through expectations, and then again after these conversations to prep you for the final step. After these meetings/conversations with the Sourcer, you are to do a final interview for 15 minutes with a professional on the senior leadership team, as well as provide 2 references who have to schedule time to speak with the team. At some point there is a Recruiter assigned to you (who is different from your Sourcer) becomes your main point of contact with the company. But be warned - not ONCE did I meet my hiring manager throughout the process, nor did I find out who I would report to until I received an offer. Overall, an extremely long process from start to offer. The team was extremely transparent about pay expectations, and the 'hustle' culture internally. That said, they will NOT negotiate with you, and will do their best to avoid having you negotiate any aspect of the offer. I noticed this first in conversations around pay expectations, especially in that I was explicitly told I couldn't negotiate around my base (this is understandable with newly implemented salary bands). But when the offer was delivered, I was given a call on the Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend and told to make a decision by end of day, and that PTO wouldn't be negotiated as a part of the process. After spending 4 weeks going through this process and bending over back for them, to be asked to make a decision in less than half a day was completely absurd. For being a company all about mental health services, this was concerning to me. This could have been all because of the recruiter I was working with, but I couldn't in good conscience leave a great company for a role that had such little consideration for negotiation in the offer. I mean, we are in sales after all... Seems to be a great company in a lot of ways & I wish them the best, but it wasn't the right fit for me.

      Interview

For an entry level job paying $50k…this interview process is ridiculous. 30 min call with recruiter (fine) 24 hours to complete a multi-touch outreach campaign to a therapist not yet using Headway (uhh, ok…) THEN after you get past that, TWO MORE interviews. One is a 60 minute mock sales call exercise and the second is a 60 minute behavioral interview to make sure you align with their value and culture. BUT WAIT THERES MORE! Before both of those interviews, they want you to connect with a talent partner for 15+ minutes. And they want you to review a 20-slide power point before meeting with the talent partner and come with questions. That’s at LEAST 6 hours of prep/meetings/assignments…for an entry level role. The process was laughable.
