I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HexagonFab in Apr 2022
Interview
Screening interview (30 mins) followed by technical interview (1 h).
Screening interview was standard, relaxed and casual. Technical interview felt more like an interrogation, the founder was like a dog with a bone with each question. I think the problem here was the difference in academic backgrounds. As my work requires a lot of different techniques, I'm not an expert on the in depth theory of how each bit of equipment works (who is?!) and I think this is what the founder was looking for. Personally, I did not enjoy my experience of the interview process and had already decided I didn't want to work there based on the atmosphere of the technical interview. I did, of course, still want feedback so that I could use it with future interviews. However, even after two follow up emails, there has been radio silence from them.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Screening interview questions were along the lines of:
Why do you want to work at a start up
Tell me about a time you encountered difficulty in your current role etc
Technical interview qs were more specific to your own experience but you will have to prepare a presentation of a project you've worked on and read a paper they sent to you. Expect some sort of problem solving task to complete too.
