I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Holberton School (Tulsa, OK) in Aug 2021
Interview
I did a phone intro call, an interview with another facilitator, a building tour with another interview in person, and a technical interview with an education facilitator.
Everything was great up until the technical interview. I was told that the interview would cover the type of material on the syllabi for the program. I downloaded the catalog and studied through the topics in the syllabus to freshen up on the items listed- AR/VR work in Unity game engine, and C#. The Technical interview did not address any Unity work and the questions were not in C#. I felt as though I did ok- I was just really rusty since I have only used C# and focused on game dev in recent years.
It concerns me that they are looking for an educator for a specific topic but the technical interview does not even address that topic. Perhaps my understanding of how this coding school works is off base.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Live coding in bash, sql, javascript, c#. Nothing too hard but had to know syntax relatively well. Did not address anything related to AR/VR game engine pipeline (such as working in 3D space, quaternions, Unity events, coroutines, gameobjects, prefabs, 6Dof/3dof, etc.)
