I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at IBM in Jul 2010
Interview
The interview starts with an hour research talk and is followed by a round-table Q&A. Then you will meet with individual researchers and will touch on a variety of topics. Some will want to further discuss your research with you and ask pointed questions. Other one on ones will focus on the interviewers research and your thoughts about, e.g. how you would tackle that problem, how you would extend it, where you see collaboration, discussion a specific problem they are currently facing. All in all 3 fun days, which include going out to dinner and asking questions in return.

Interview
I gave a scientific talk on my research, had a roundtable discussion, went to lunch, and had 6+ one-on-one interviews. Overall a pretty laid back process. Challenging, but intellectually stimulating questions.
I applied online for the researcher position and had the first interview. Asked about background information and why choose IBM. They also asked which area you would like to specialize in the future and why. Questions were very straightforward and nothing to stress about. Overall a quick and easy experience.

Interview
I went to the place for an interview day and to give a seminar. The interviews where ok, without much technical questions. Then I had phone interviews with the managements for few weeks, again a bit going through the CV. They didn't give me feedback at the end of the process.
