Client Facing Tech Support Summer Interview

      29 Mar 2019
      Anonymous employee
      Poughkeepsie, NY
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at IBM (Poughkeepsie, NY) in Mar 2019

      Interview

I applied for the position in November and received a Hackerrank coding assessment. The following email after the assesmment stated that I would hear back in a week if I passed, but I didn't so I forgot about my application until I received a phone call in March from an HR recruiter. From there foward, the process moved really quickly over the span of two weeks. The recruiter told me a little about the position, told me I passed the coding challenge and asked if I was still interested in the role. I said yes and she told me the next step is a video “guru” interview where I would be asked technical questions, a whiteboard coding question, and test my soft skills from a local “guru” from the IBM location I chose. My interview was purely behavioral questions despite what my recruiter told me and my “guru” was not from the location I applied for. Regardless, after the interview, I received a college credit request form to determine my salary, and then the offer letter through email a few days later. It was an overall easy process, just took some time from when I applied to when I heard back.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Behavioral questions mostly about projects from my resume. Its a client facing position, so many questions about group work and dealing with clients.

      Interview

Very pleasant, both the hiring manager and the other interviewer were very nice. The questions were moderately difficult, but anyone with any knowledge of Data Structures and basic algorithms should do fine.
