Fairly straightforward, took about 4 weeks in total between interviews, orientation and proper paper work as well as getting live scanning. A few hoops to jump around which weren't difficult but just time consuming as you had to jump from one place to another.

Interview
Easy, after you have signed up for services and attended orientation you are provided with a list of local residents who need assistance. You make contact with the employer to set-up an interview and if you are a good fit for the individual, they will accept your services.

Just background checks
Not much of a background check. Just paperwork to fill out at the local county office. Just google IHSS and then go to that department if you need anything else.
